Feeling Down, Dressing Up Will Make You Feel Better!!!

Ever found yourself wondering what exactly some other people have that you don’t, that makes them look like they are stepping off the pages of Vogue, Essence, or Marie Clare, every time while getting it together to go to work or even put it together for after-work cocktails, is a struggle…And A struggle you never win, because even when you have done your best in putting something together when you go out, you pale into fashion insignificance, compared to those you are out partying with.

Well, if you have, you are not alone, and the struggle, for many, is real. In fact, it is so real that some people have simply given up and have become recluses, opting to stay home, when invited out, instead of showing up to feel less than, because in their minds, they are looking less than.
Well, the problem might be not your wardrobe so much, but how you put it together and or how you accessorize.

To begin with, you should start by intimately getting to know your body type and size. Its all good and well for us to have a fantasy body type and or size in our heads, and buy to dress that body type, but in reality, we have the opposite body and so, our reality does not match up to the fantasy, and so we are never going to get it right.

Let’s say, for example, you are top heavy, but you consider yourself a svelte lass; Or let’s take another body type – The Pear-shaped body that identifies as having a Coco-Cola-Bottle shape. There’s no way those two women, with their fantasy and reality, will ever make the right decision when shopping, and so, consequently, will be forever, looking like the Job-lot, as against the Fashionable Diva, they hope to be.
To get it right, your fashion calculus must be on the ball. So this begins with you seeing yourself as you really are, instead of how you wish to be seen. And with this acceptance and overview, will come a new awareness that will guide you to the right fashion place.

To use a line from the best-selling Song from Lieutenant Stitchie: “Young-gal, wear yuh size”. And this is the best fashion advice ever, as indeed, by being true to your fashion sense, you can actually cover up a multitude of fashion sins, but when you divert from this path, to appear trendy, hip or fashionable, the reverse is true. And so the discordant becomes obvious, to onlookers and more so to you who made the choice, because the body does not lie, and when we try to lie to ourselves about our bodies, the body goes into a state of protest in which it constantly shows us we are indeed making the fool of ourselves.

So, if we accept our actual bodies as they are and we are still missing the fashion highs and still scoring in the lows, then we should look at out wardrobes through a different set of specks… For example, a good place to start is by looking at our chosen accessories, footwear, and headwear can also make and or dismantle the would-be perfect ensemble. So here we emphasize coordination. But when we emphasize coordination, we are not suggesting anything as banal as that which obtains in some fashion circles, where coordination is interpreted to mean that dressing up means a Blue top, blue bottom, blue shoes, blue hat or even matching accessories for one’s mobile telephone.

One can coordinate fashion contrasts/clashes, for example, sporting red with blue; blue with black or white and etcetera. A studious contrast is by far way more exciting fashionably speaking, than a colour-blind, colour-coordinated fashion malaprop.

The best way to get that winning fashion look, is to predetermine before the occasion, the exact look and or style you want to convey, to those who will be sharing your creative space by seeking to put their best foot forward. Never mind that in putting their best foot forward, they might crunch a few of your toes. The prospect should not deter you. In fact, it should serve as a motivating force.

Now if all else fails, it’s time to turn your attention to your fashion accessories. As there’s nothing like accessorising to spruce up an old look. Give new life to an old wardrobe, or can so easily lend itself to transforming the drab into the spectacular. And according to global fashion experts, the winning fashion combo, has less to with the cost, than we think and more to do with that individual touch.
The right accessories can transform a bargain-basement outfit into a Couture-looking ensemble, so the trick here is choosing the right accessories. The secret is when accessorising, keep it in proportion, to both your body type and size and in proportion to the outfit.
So here are some basic tips:

Shoes: Shoes may well end up being your most expensive accessory acquisition. When purchasing, instead of simply buying labels, Go for the classic look that compliments you; adds elegance, and more importantly does not detract from your look.
Pumps, Flats, Slingbacks, and walking shoes are all excellent choices but think of adding a pair of traditional man’s boots to the mix for originality and that time when the boots will be a statement piece.
Go for neutral Colours such as Black, Brown, and Taupe, and wear them well with the majority of wardrobe choices; But for evenings metallic gold; bronze and dark steel are recommended. For sporty and outdoorsy events, Boots, are always a hit.

Hosiery: One of the least expensive ways to add colour and excitement to your wardrobe is with the use of Hosiery. Many women accustomed to wearing the basic in nude or suntan, have found that wearing different textures, and colours can transform from the ordinary to the seductress, and or the Schoolmarm, dependent on choice.

Handbags: These are like shoes, in that when purchasing handbags, splurge a little, for quality and endurance. A Handbag need not match your shoes, but should be complementary in tones – Again we recommend classic all-purpose colours such as burgundy, black and mahogany.
Remember size matters so your handbag should not overshadow the outfit but should be large enough to carry what you need when stepping out…
Jewellery: Except for your watch, jewellery, is largely decorative and non-functional as an element of your wardrobe and is largely a matter of personal taste experts suggest this be worn in moderation. Gold is an elegant choice and can be seen as an investment instead of only as a frill.
Scarves: Few women (In the Tropics) wear scarves, but scarves are such fun and can be used to dress up and or dress down an outfit. Like hosiery, scarves can add an inexpensive splash of colour; and mystique, whether worn over the head, as a bow at the neck, draped across the shoulders, or tied at the waist. And even as an accent piece that can be flirted with by changing its role once adorned. The beauty of the scarf is watching an expert handler, tossing it over the shoulder; or using it to control a coif. Scarves are simply fabulous and should be indulged more,

Now, its time to get out of the doldrums and step out, putting your best fashion foot forward, with the Imagesandpriles, seal of approval.
